Zemfira Ramazanova, known mononymously as Zemfira (Земфира), is a Russian singer, songwriter, and musician who emerged at the turn of the 21st century.

Born in 1976 in Ufa, she first gained national attention in 1999 with her self-titled debut album Zemfira, which quickly set her apart through its raw guitar-driven sound and emotionally direct songwriting. Blending elements of alternative rock, pop-rock, and indie sensibilities, she helped define a new wave of Russian-language music that moved away from the polished mainstream pop of the 1990s.

Over the following decades, Zemfira built a reputation for introspective lyrics, often dealing with themes such as love, alienation, identity, and emotional conflict.

Known for her reclusive public persona and selective engagement with the media, she has maintained an artistic image centered on independence and creative control, influencing a generation of musicians in Russia and beyond.
